Skatelite Miniramp
In 2017 we combined powers with Skatelite to refurbish the Pioneer miniramp and captured the process in our latest stop-motion video, which should be finished before the end of the year.
The skatepark has had a miniramp outdoors since 1986, but this time it will be available throughout the winter months, where Skatelite comes into its own. By not absorbing water it dries incredibly quickly, allowing it to be ridden far more regularly than other surface materials. |
St.Albans Concrete Plaza
In April 2016 we completed the outdoor concrete facility at the Pioneer Skatepark in St.Albans. The design is incredibly unique, with some innovative obstacles and a challenging layout. We have also incorporated some areas of block paving and granite slabs, to give the facility a completely bespoke feel.

Hackney Wick Community Project
The London Legacy Development Corporation invited submissions from organisations for proposals for ‘meanwhile uses’ to be delivered on a site in Hackney Wick. Frontside were announced as winners in July 2012. The project hopes to deliver a range of capital works and initiatives which support the local residential, creative and business communities and deliver long term benefits for the regeneration of the area, with a skatepark made from reclaimed and recycled materials as an anchor.
Meanwhile London
Frontside reached the final of the recent Meanwhile London Competition organised by Property Week Magazine, Newham Borough Council and the London Development Authority. The competition was looking to find “meanwhile” uses for three prominent brownfield sites – and the adjacent water – in the Royal Docks and Canning Town.
The proposal was to install an iconic BMX facility made from reclaimed soil. Participation in BMXing in the borough is going from strength to strength, with the Newham BMX Club being formed in 2010, and a race track built in 2011.
